Provably fair is a cryptographic system exclusive to crypto casinos that allows you to mathematically verify that game results were not manipulated — by the casino or by anyone else. It represents a fundamental shift in gambling transparency.

The Problem It Solves

Traditional casinos require you to trust that their random number generators are honest. You can't verify this. Provably fair replaces trust with mathematics — every result is verifiable by anyone with the seed data.

How It Works: The Three Components

  1. Server Seed: A random string generated by the casino before the round. It's hashed (encrypted) with SHA-256 and shown to you in advance. The casino cannot change this after showing you the hash.
  2. Client Seed: A random string you provide (or can change at any time). Your contribution ensures the casino can't predict or fix your outcome.
  3. Nonce: A counter that increments with each bet, ensuring unique results every round.

The Verification Process

  1. Before playing: Note the server seed hash (visible in your profile)
  2. Play the round
  3. After: The casino reveals the original server seed
  4. You verify: SHA-256(server seed) == hash you saw before
  5. If it matches, the result was pre-committed and not manipulated

Example Verification

Casino shows hash: 3a2f9b1c... → You play → Casino reveals seed: f7e2a14d... → You hash it yourself → Result is 3a2f9b1c... → The game was fair.

Which Games Use Provably Fair?

  • Crash games (Aviator, JetX, BC.Game Crash)
  • Dice games
  • Mines / Plinko
  • Slots at native crypto casinos (Stake Originals)

Note: Slots from traditional providers (NetEnt, Pragmatic Play) at crypto casinos are NOT provably fair — they use licensed RNG software instead.

Which Casinos Offer It?

Stake, BC.Game, BetFury, Roobet, Duelbits and most native crypto casinos. Traditional casinos adapted for crypto generally do NOT have provably fair mechanics.

How to Verify on Stake

  1. Go to your bet history
  2. Click any game result
  3. Click "Verify" button
  4. Stake shows you the complete seed data and verification hash
